I grew in my faith this week by learning to deepen my relationship with service. In all honesty, the serving piece with the communities was important, but service for me was also understanding the dynamics of my team and serving them which I really enjoyed. I like helping others to find their gifts and grow. My faith was challenged in two ways by disconnecting from work and the distractions that sometimes keep me less than focused on God and also by trying to love all people even when perhaps they don't embrace or demonstrate God's love in the way that I think is what we are called to do. It reminds me that no one is perfect, that we all have our strengths, and sometimes we grow to needing and maybe even craving a deeper relationship with God because there are less distractions. It also reaffirmed the importance of humility. When someone asks, “How was your trip?” how can you share your experiences, God encounters and memories in 50 words or less? God is an awesome God who provides for us at every instant. We saw this in the relationships we built, the logistics that could have never happened without him, and the lives that were transformed both within our team and the community. |
